Students are invited to participate in the 15th Annual Summer Reading Contest by sharing what they are reading in The Times and explaining why. This year, students can enter the contest by either writing a short response or creating a 90-second video. The contest will run from June 7 to August 16.
To make things more exciting for the anniversary of the contest, students have the option to submit a video entry in addition to the traditional written response. Whether students choose to write about cats, chatbots, college expenses, global crises, BeyoncĂ©, book censorship, sports, or baking, the content must have been published in 2024. The main goal is to hear students’ thoughts and opinions on a variety of topics.
For teachers who want to prepare their students for the contest early, there is a practice forum available where students can begin honing their writing or video-making skills. The key requirement is that the content must be from 2024, but beyond that, students have the freedom to choose any topic that interests them.
