MMI Preparatory School Partners with Lackawanna College for Pre-College Credit Program

SCRANTON, PA – In a groundbreaking move, MMI Preparatory School in Freeland near Hazleton has entered into a pre-college agreement with Lackawanna College. This partnership allows MMI students to earn valuable college credits while still in high school, providing them with a head start on their higher education journey.

The agreement between MMI Preparatory School and Lackawanna College was officially solidified in October 2024 after a meticulous evaluation process. Dr. Tammy M. Chrin, Ed.D., Director of College Counseling at MMI, shared, “Jennifer Novotney and I met with numerous colleges and universities before selecting Lackawanna College as our partner for Pre-College programs. Lackawanna College’s expertise in Pre-College programs and their efficiency in working together made them the ideal choice for us.”

Currently, 40 eligible MMI students are poised to reap the rewards of this innovative initiative. The program is already in operation, with both MMI and Lackawanna College staff collaborating seamlessly to ensure its success. Phillip Campbell, Director of College Partnerships at Lackawanna College, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting the potential cost savings for families and the academic advantages for students.
