Lamar Consolidated Independent School District (LCISD) has taken a proactive step towards enhancing school security by implementing new hi-tech Weapons Detection Systems from Athena Security. The district’s Chief of Police, Henry Garcia, made the decision to deploy 24 of Athena’s systems across LCISD to scan for concealed weapons at school entrances. This move aims to improve campus security and provide an additional layer of protection against potential threats.
Chief Garcia emphasized the importance of this technology as a “force multiplier” that allows security personnel to detect threats that may not be visible to the naked eye. Unlike traditional metal detectors, Athena’s system includes AI-powered Evasion Detection, which can identify individuals attempting to bypass the system without walking through the detector.
